The Carisbrooke Castle Museum Trust: Guardians of Heritage

The Carisbrooke Castle Museum Trust was originally established by HRH Princess Beatrice shortly before her death in 1944 to oversee the operations of the museum. This entity has recently transitioned into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to continue its mission with a modern framework.

Safeguarding History, Serving the Community

A Museum Trustee has the following obligations:

Financial Stewardship

Ensure the financial viability of the Museum.

Strategic Planning

Provide a framework of plans and policies to define the Museum’s purpose, and monitor the achievement of its objectives.

Advocacy

Act as an advocate of the Museum within the community.

Collection Preservation

Provide for the safety, security, and preservation of the collections

Public Service

Ensure that the Museum serves the public effectively.
